Wesley “West” Wilson is an emerging artist, producer, and recording/mixing engineer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, shaped by a deep musical lineage and a rich Southern sound. Growing up, West was raised on the timeless records of the Isley Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and other iconic artists his parents played throughout his childhood. His father, a local DJ, and his uncles, who ran the legendary Barcode nightclub on Baton Rouge’s Eastside—exposed him early to the vibrant local music scene, hosting Louisiana legends such as Young Ready, Boosie, Young Bleed, and Mystikal. This environment not only rooted him in the culture of his city but sparked the passion that would define his creative path.

West began rapping at thirteen while attending Crestworth Middle School and went on to graduate from Central High School’s Class of 2014. In 2015, he took his first steps into engineering and production, recording in Audacity with a collective of six friends known as F.O.F., where he naturally became the group’s leader and primary engineer. After briefly studying Studio Arts at Baton Rouge Community College, he shifted focus toward music away from acting, ultimately choosing to build his career as a solo artist, engineer and behind-the-scenes songwriter from 2017 to the present.

In May 2024, West enrolled in the Los Angeles Film School to pursue his Associate Degree in Music Production, where he currently maintains Honors status with a 3.98 GPA. Since June 2024, he has been engineering at a professional level, developing his sound through industry-standard DAWs such as Pro Tools and Logic Pro. His technical growth is supported by hands-on training, research, and mentorship from respected creators like Crank Lucas and HelpMeDevvon (Devon Terrell). Today, West continues to refine his signature blend of Southern storytelling, modern rap production, and polished engineering, with aspirations to build his brand, Westway Soundz, into a full-service creative hub for artists across genres.
